Have a vaulted or sloped porch ceiling? You can still hang a porch swing or swing bed.
In fact, installing one of our swings from a vaulted ceiling is usually quite simple. The primary difference is that the mounting points are at different heights, which means you'll need different lengths of rope on each side of the swing.
How It Works
When a swing is installed beneath a flat ceiling, the suspension points are generally at the same height, so the ropes can be the same length.
With a vaulted or sloped ceiling, one set of mounting points may be higher than the other. To keep the swing level, we can supply two sets of ropes in different lengths to accommodate the difference in ceiling height.
The result is a level swing, even though the ceiling above it is sloped.
What We Need From You
When placing your order, you can guesstimate the rope lengths you'll need. This gives us the information we need to begin preparing your order.
Before your swing ships, however, we will need your final confirmed rope lengths.
We strongly recommend having your contractor determine these measurements once the exact mounting locations have been established. The required rope lengths will depend on:
- The height of each mounting point
- The desired height of the swing from the floor
- The specific swing or swing bed/ropes you are purchasing
- The location and configuration of the structural supports in your ceiling
Once we have your confirmed measurements, we can supply the appropriate rope lengths for your installation.

All porch swings and swing beds must be mounted to structural supports capable of safely supporting the swing, its occupants, and the dynamic loads created while the swing is in use.
Ceiling construction varies considerably from home to home, particularly with vaulted ceilings. Easy Breezy Porch Swings cannot determine from photographs or measurements alone whether a particular beam, joist, rafter, ceiling structure, mounting location, or hardware configuration is suitable for supporting a swing.
We strongly recommend consulting a licensed contractor before installation. Your contractor should identify appropriate structural mounting points, determine the hardware and installation method required for your particular home, and provide you with the measurements needed for your ropes.
Do not attach a swing to decorative ceiling materials, paneling, soffits, or other non-structural components.
